About Ekkerøy Feriehus
Ekkerøy Feriehus, established in 2001, is run by Ingjerd Tjelle and her husband Trond Magne Henriksen. The holiday house is Ingjerd’s “baby”; an establishment that came about from inspiration from the women of Hermetikken, an innate sense of curiosity and a passion for telling and conveying stories. The idea was to create a combination of tourism and conveying – the perfect match!
Conveying has always been an essential part of Ingjerd’s life and work, as a previous journalist and several decades as an author and conveyor. In her work she has primarily focused on telling stories that have not been told yet. Her passion is telling stories from the past, especially from Finnmark, and she has written several books about orphanage children, sorcerers, unexplainable powers, and other stories about life in our most northern county.
Curiosity for other people is a running theme in all of Ingjerd’s work. While she, in her books, searches for stories about people from the past, it is her curiosity for the people of today that sparked her interest for getting involved in tourism. Meeting people from all over the world, exchanging experiences and learning about their life, is the biggest privilege of working with tourism.
Tourism also serves as an area where helping other people is a possibility, whether it is offering memorable experiences, new knowledge or insight in a new way of life. By staying at Ekkerøy Holiday house, guests can experience arctic nature and tranquillity at its best. Our company will provide for those who want to find inner peace through meditation or yoga. Both Ekkerøy itself and the apartments are well suited for this, and Ingjerd has plenty of experience about using meditation to find calm and serenity in one’s life.
